Every year I put together a list of the best work bags for the year. I look for new bags/brands all year long and love to find these options. I have pretty strict requirements- the bags must be able to hold documents, must be professional, must have some kind of closing mechanism, the ability to carry on your shoulder, etc.- but I do try to include some choices that are not necessarily my style. The video covers a wide range of bags but this post is a look at my top 5- the best 5 chic work bags of 2025.

In this post I want to concentrate on the bags from this list that make my wishlist. I love a great work bag and although I am not in the market for a new work bag right now, these will definitely be on my radar should those needs change.
These bags are so chic. I love the feminine, elevated styles. These are exactly the kind of bag that adds the polish to my work looks and make me feel extra confident walking through the door.

1. Mlouye Isla Tote $645
The clasp on this bag is the perfect amount of hardware and there is something about a turn-lock closure that always screams elegance to me. I love the burgundy color. I wish it was fully enclosed on the top but otherwise, it is a perfect minimal work bag with sophistication.

2. DeMellier Hudson Tote $745
I have seen a few DeMellier bags in person, but not this one, unfortunately. I liked some of their previous designs but this is by far my favorite. It is obviously quite reminiscent of an Hermes Birkin but I’d say the classic design of it leans more towards the vibe of the Hermes Kelly. While it has this similar styling (at a much lower price point) it definitely is not trying to be a dupe as it has it’s own style and details (including a back pocket!).
I wish this zipped at the top but the ability to expand the sides and increase/decrease the opening helps. I’m glad it does not have the flap of the Birkin as that is one of the less practical features and also would make it look too similar. I appreciate that is has an organic cotton lining, and is Leather Working Group certified. It also has a lifetime repair guarantee. While not the most sustainable bag brand on the market, it does make many ethical and sustainable choices which is more than I can say for most bags of similar popularity.

3. Alemi Zurich Viaduct 24 $795
This brand went by Ameli Zurich until a few weeks ago and their customer base seems unhappy with the name change so I am not sure if it will change in the future. Regardless of the name, it is a great bag! I appreciate the organization, the feminine styling, and the backpack/versatile carrying options! The flap is always a nice touch and definitely has some Hermes Kelly vibes likes the Hudson bag, above. This is ethically made as well. I appreciate the thoughtful details such as the double magnetic closure and interior belt design so you can really make it the size you need it for the day and ensure it remains secure.

4. Veronica Beard Large Dash Top Handle $798
I have never really considered Veronica Beard bags before (I’m not even sure they’ve really made them in the past?) but I always liked their blazers and the way they dressed working women in a chic but effortlessly cool way. I think this bag has a similar essence. The belt detail is very trendy right now but also has an understated elegance that I think will long surpass the trend and remain classic. The way the belt hangs also feels like it is unique enough to make the bag noticeable to those who recognize it but remains understated and professional. The magnetic snap closure is a nice touch.
This is the only bag on this list I have seen in person and while I was not blown away by the quality, it was what I expected or even exceeded expectations and seemed like it would be quite durable. I imagine this one might go on sale since it is in so many big department stores.

5. ATP Merlara Tote $1200
This one is much more expensive than the others on the list and whether it is worth the extra money is certainly up for debate. I love the simple but unique design of this flap. It definitely has an edgy cool style. This also has a separate laptop compartment and I always appreciate that division. This one is quite a bit wider than the others and is LWG certified.
Which is your favorite? I’m not sure I can choose! They are all excellent choices and I’m trying not to justify why I should add at least one to my wardrobe right now.
