Paying Homage to the Sustainable Fashion Brands We Lost

There is no denying it has been a rough few years for the sustainable fashion community. There have been a number of great sustainable fashion brands lost in the last few years, each of which truly believed in making clothes better.

Better in what way? Better for the workers creating the clothes, better for the manufacturers of the dyes, machinery, etc. better for the consumer, and better for the planet.

Financially it is a hard time for most brands in fashion but sustainable fashion has also been up against a perception problem, lack of marketing budgets, and an audience that consciously chooses to buy less.

So why bother paying homage? Because these brands tried and should be remembered. Also, you may still be able to find them floating around the secondhand market. Here is a list of brands that we have lost over the last few years. As I learn about more I will continue adding.

You have the big giants like:

Mara Hoffman

Amour Vert

and so many smaller brands:

ADAY

Arq Underwear

Only Child

Beaton Linen

Ilona Kohn

Vetta

Maven Women

Sotela

Ana + Zac

Tiny Closet

Two Days Off

Dallas Daws

Siggi Clothing

Sugar Mountain Candy

Fabscrap

Mila.Vert

Mother of Pearl

Marta Scarampi

Nui Organics

The Knotty Ones

Untitled in Motion

Wear Franc

Whimsy & Row

WVN

Which brands do you miss the most?

For me, it is Amour Vert, ADAY, WVN, Maven Women, Mila.Vert and Vetta.
