If there’s one wardrobe essential worth upgrading, it’s your underwear. In fact, when people ask me where they should start creating a non-toxic and sustainable wardrobe I always say start with the underwear drawer (followed by Active Wear). The pieces you wear closest to your skin and on your most intimate and sensitive body parts should be non-toxic, breathable, and responsibly made. This doesn’t just affect your skin, it can also post a direct correlation with your reproductive organs. This post covers the best organic cotton underwear from sustainable brands.
Organic cotton is not perfect, but it is leaps and bounds better than conventional cotton and synthetics. Conventional cotton uses pesticides and toxins in their production and dyes (even organic cotton isn’t foolproof so look for certifications for the best bet) and synthetics are not breathable and the dyes used for synthetics are almost always toxic. Plus, synthetics hold in smells and pill- two things nobody wants in their underwear.
Most of these are not 100% organic cotton (though the few that are note that in the description section).
